SSA project impresses Chhattisgarh team

Rajahmundry: A 20-member delegation of government officials, local self-governments and NGOs from Chhattisgarh had an exposure tour of this historic town on Thursday. Included was a visit to a school being run under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) project at Vedurlammalanka situated on an island in the river Godavari. Speaking to reporters, team leader O.P. Sharma said they were impressed with the priority given to education by the State government and the infrastructure facilities being provided in schools both under the SSA and other projects.
Mid-day meal
He appreciated that the mid-day meal scheme was giving good results as the school-going children were able to get nutritious diet, which the Chhattisgarh government would like to emulate to the extent its resources permit. The visitors took stock of other development activities with the help of the SSA and mid-day meal scheme coordinator and National Institute of Rural Development faculty T.Vijay Kumar. He explained various aspects of governance in Andhra Pradesh citing certain examples and drawing comparisons from their State.
The delegation comprised Neena Rawtiya, Chitra Rekha Kar, Brajesh Vajpayi .
