THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the basis of a complaint filed by one K.G. Abraham, the police have registered a case of trespass and destruction of property against the Kerala Water Authority represented by the Superintending Engineer, Thiruvananthapuram Circle. According to the police, the complaint is that KWA officials on Monday dug pits inside the property said to be owned by Mr. Abraham at Kowdiar junction, destroyed a shed and cut down plantains. The complainant produced revenue records, including a possession certificate, to prove that the property was his. The KWA Superintending Engineer told the police that KWA officials entered the compound and dug up the earth to trace the alignment of a 33-inch main pipeline that passed through the property. This was done with a view to ensuring the safety of the line. The All Kerala Water Authority Employees Union, in a statement here on Thursday, deplored moves by the police to charge cases against KWA officials who were executing a government decision to identify encroachments on the pipeline road.
