BANGALORE: A group of villagers manhandled three city policemen in Hoskote when they had gone there to question a person suspected to be involved in a case of theft. The three policemen from S.J. Park police station went in plain clothes to Boodagere Cross near Hoskote. They brought the suspect from his house to a nearby location for questioning. Suspecting the action of the policemen, a group of villagers then came to the spot. They argued with the policemen and a few persons from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike also joined in. Trade blowsThere was an exchange of blows between the villagers and the policemen. Both landed in the Hoskote police station. Senior police officials, including Assistant Commissioner of Police S.R. Vijaya Kumar, went to the police station and tried to settle the matter. The S.R. Nagar police lodged a complaint against the villagers for obstructing the work of the police. The villagers filed a counter complaint accusing the police of “illegal” action. ToyA packet containing a toy created scare among the residents of Sutguntepalya near Byappanahalli on Thursday. According to the police, a resident called the police control room around 10.30 a.m. about the packet that was found abandoned near HMT compound. The caller found two wires protruding from the packet. The police came to the spot with the bomb detection squad and the dog squad. The squad opened the packet and removed the soft musical doll.
