Photo electoral rolls revision under way

SALEM: The Salem Corporation has conducted an all party meeting regarding the revision of photo electoral rolls (after delimitation) here on Friday.

Participating in the meeting, Corporation Commissioner K.S. Palanisamy said that the civic administration was carrying out the exercise in three assembly constituencies - Salem (West), Salem (North) and Salem (South). Booth level officers had been appointed and forms for inclusion, deletion, correction and change of address were being distributed to the voters.

Officials would carry out a door-to-door verification exercise till August 8. He appealed to the people to co-operate with the officials by providing the required information during the verification. The copies of draft photo electoral rolls are being kept for public view at all the polling stations in the three assembly segments. The Corporation would conduct special camps at all the polling booths from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 2 and 3.

Officials would read out the names in the electoral rolls and receive forms for inclusion of names, deletion, correction and change of address in the photo electoral rolls during the special camps.

The Commissioner called upon the people and officials to extend their full co-operation to the civic administration to ensure 100 percent accuracy in the revision of photo electoral rolls.

Senior officials and representatives from various parties were present in the meeting.
