ADILABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Friday threatened to agitate if the South Central Railway (SCR) did not start running the Krishna Express train to Tirupati from Adilabad. The train, running between Nizamabad and Tirupati at present was slated to be extended to Adilabad as was announced in this year’s railway budget. Intentions questionedTRS leader Ch. Suhasini Reddy and others questioned the intentions of the ruling UPA government at the Centre and in the State over the inordinate delay in making the service available to people of Adilabad. She held the view that this was one more example of discrimination against the backward region of Telangana. She said introduction of the train will help students, businessmen and pilgrims who were eagerly awaiting it. Ms. Suhasini Reddy said a TRS delegation will represent the matter regarding the continuing delay to the Divisional Railway Manager, Nanded, in a couple of days. In case the representation did not elicit positive response an agitation will be planned, she added. The TRS also demanded opening of a separate counter for reservation as it now functions from the ticketing window, construction of a railway over bridge on market road and two under bridges to access Tatiguda and Mahalaxmiwada and strengthening the railway line between Adilabad and Nagpur in Maharashtra for speedy travel of the Nandigram Express.
