BANGALORE: Satyashree B.J.G. of Bangalore might not be an actor but has played many roles in her eventful life. She just returned from Malaysia where she bagged an array of prizes in the international veteran’s athletic meet. For Satyashree, the pursuit of diverse activities has become a way of life. She is a poetess and her poems and Chutuku Sahitya (limericks) have been compiled into a collection. As a social activist, she has founded two organisations, — the Garden City Cultural Academy, which is an exclusive forum for budding performers and Poornachandra Kalanikethan for art and music. In Malaysia, she won three medals, gold for 100 metres race, silver in discus throw and bronze in three-km marathon walk. Known as “Jinkemari” (fawn) in her close circle, Satysashree at 40 practices hard for her events, mainly running and discus, at Kanteerava Stadium for two hours under the guidance of senior coach Lingappa. She is satisfied with her role as a mother – her 23-year-old son will soon become an engineer. She is an advocate in the High Court. Every year, she organises talent hunt programmes and gives away silver medallions to those students who have scored above 90 per cent in the SSLC examinations, sewing machines to unemployed women and stationery kits to hundreds of deserving students every year. She is now writing a theses for her doctorate degree with Kannada University, Hampi.
