Left eyeing BJP votes: Chandy
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy on Friday accused the Left parties of covertly supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in order to regain their relevance in national politics. In a statement here, Mr. Chandy this trend could be seen during the debate on the confidence vote in Parliament. He said the CPI(M)’s blind anti-Congress position had prompted it to ignore the opinions of senior party leader Somnath Chatterjee. The party had proclaimed that it would bring down the UPA government because it had its eye on the BJP votes, he said. — Special Correspondent
