‘Personal branding is key to success’

Special Correspondent

KOZHIKODE: With north Kerala gearing up for Information Technology development in a big way, increasing emphasis is being given to setting up amenities and manpower for new generation employers as well as IT professionals.

Meeting world standards

International schools that meet world standards have been planned and a few have been inaugurated. A shopping mall has been readied for big spenders. More such facilities are in the offing.

Personality development

A very important aspect is the development of personality, says Babita Narayanan, principal consultant of Persona on St. Vincent Colony Road in Kozhikode, who is among the first batch of entrepreneurs to launch agencies to teach etiquette to the emerging upwardly mobile generation. “The ability to impress your prospective employer is as important as your educational qualification. This, however, is often overlooked,” she says.

“At our institute, details of which are posted on www.persona24carats.com, we teach students all about personal branding,” says the business management graduate.

“Personal branding” is the sum of external and internal elements, she says.

“Personal appearance which is formed by the clothes one wears, make up, and personal hygiene, ability to communicate with confidence, etiquette and mannerisms, etc., play an important role in external branding; and internal branding is what one thinks of oneself.”

Creating success

“Our goal should be to create a situation in which our internal and external branding match. It is such people who succeed in life,” says Ms. Babita who has already set up a school for kids with modern amenities.
