Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Government would launch a three-week-long ‘Plantation’ campaign from August 9 for beautification of the national and State highways, PWD Minister Thakur Gulab Singh said on Saturday. More than 1.50 lakh saplings would be planted on both sides of the highways to beautify the existing roads as part of the campaign from August 9 to 31. “Ornamental plants like Bottle brush, Silver oak and Bougainvillea will be planted on these highways,” he said during a meeting of senior officers here.
