South African national held with foreign currency

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old South African national has been arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport here on charges of illegally carrying over Rs.26 lakh in foreign currency.
Customs officials keeping a watch on passengers in the arrival hall said they found the movements of Emefiele Evans suspicious and intercepted him. He was frisked and 62,890 dollars were allegedly found concealed in the waistband of one of his trousers and shoes.
Emefiele was wearing two trousers and the dollars had been stuffed inside the waistband of his inner trousers by making holes in it. Some more dollars were allegedly found concealed inside his shoes.
He had arrived in Delhi from Cape Town by a Qatar Airways flight.
