MYSORE: A three-member gang entered a house in Nanjangud town in the early hours of Friday and made away with valuables worth Rs. 5 lakh. Superintendent of Police Rama Subba, who visited the house with a team of police officers, told The Hindu that the house belonged to one Mahesh, a hotelier. The masked burglars entered the house around 4 a.m. and threatened the family to hand over gold jewellery and cash. The police confirmed that the gang did not assault anyone. The burglars entered the house at Housing Board Colony by removing the grills of one window. Mahesh, his wife and two children were sleeping in one room and his mother was sleeping in another room. The burglars, who were armed with sharp weapons, threatened the occupants of the house. The police said the burglars conversed in Hindi and Kannada. Besides gold jewellery, they also stole Rs. 50,000 and a couple of mobile phones. Local residents saw three to five people moving near the house in the early hours of the morning. On receiving a complaint, the police rushed to the spot with a dog squad and finger print experts. The sniffer dogs led the police up a road and then lost the scent.
