THRISSUR: Bharatiya Janata Party State president P.K. Krishnadas has said that education scholarships being given on the basis of the recommendations of the Sachar-Paloli committees will foment communal hatred. He was addressing a BJP district leadership meet here on Saturday.

“Large amounts are being given as educational aid to Muslim students, whereas very few scholarships or grants reach Hindu students who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The disparity is gaping. Ezhavas and other communities should get such benefits,” he said.

He alleged that the NDF was running terrorist training cells in the State. “Kerala needs a Jammu and Kashmir model operation to flush out extremist elements. The State Home Department should consider this. There is tardy progress in the investigation of several cases. The charge-sheet in the Kozhikode Sweet Meat Bazaar blast case is yet to be submitted.

BJP State general secretaries M.T. Ramesh, K.N. Radhakrishnan, K.R. Umakantan district general secretary B. Gopalakrishnan and vice-president Ravikumar Uppathu also spoke.
