Polio case detected

Kakinada: An 18-month-old boy R. Babu of Yetimoga was found to be afflicted with polio on the basis of investigation of his stool samples at Chennai.

Babu’s father Gangadhar, a fisherman, observed that the boy’s lower limbs have been paralyzed on July 18 and immediately got them tested, which proved to be positive. This is the first polio case reported anywhere in south India this year, according to official sources. — Staff Reporter
