She has been accused of ‘careless’ evaluation KOLAR: Bangalore University has decided to debar a woman lecturer of a college in Bangalore from examination-related duty following the “irresponsibility” shown in evaluation of answer scripts. The Syndicate of the university had taken a resolution in this regard, Vice-Chancellor H.A. Ranganath told presspersons here on Saturday. It was decided to debar Oxford College lecturer Satya Venkatesh on finding that she had been “careless” while evaluating papers of Bachelor of Computer Application examination. The evaluation was found to be careless in 136 of the 211 answer scripts, Mr. Ranganath said. “This should serve as a lesson to all those who play with the future of students”, he said. The meeting of the Syndicate deferred discussion on 35 of the 52 subjects listed on the agenda, for lack of time. The meeting considered the pros and cons of setting up a separate university at Kolar. Taking into consideration the agricultural and horticultural background of the region, it had been decided to start novel courses in food technology and food processing from the academic year 2009-10. A course on agricultural marketing would also be started, , Mr. Ranganath said. The first-ever Syndicate meeting of the university held in Kolar witnessed protests by students’ organisations including the Students’ Federation of India.
