His absence during all official meetings irks them GUNTUR: District Medical and Health Officer K. Suresh Babu came under severe criticism for allegedly avoiding all official meetings of the Zilla Parishad and not being proactive to general needs of the department. At the general body meeting of the Guntur ZP, Chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya supported by ZPTCs Vasireddy Narayana Prasad, Sheelam Ravi and Ramakrishna moved a censure motion against the DMHO seeking government action against him for not attending any of the standing committee of general body meetings of the ZP except for the first one after the new dispensation took office. Congress MLAs, however, came to the rescue of the official and said that a resolution could not be passed without asking for an explanation from him and wanted the job handed over to district Collector B. Venkatesham. The ZPTCs wanted to adopt such a resolution, but the Collector politely reminded them that it was beyond their jurisdiction to remove or take action against the official and it was the administrative prerogative of the government. “You can only express your displeasure,” Mr. B. Venkatesham said. The Collector promised them to seek explanation from the official and if reply was not satisfactory, he would recommend the department concerned to initiate action against the official.
