KOLKATA: Defending champion Mohun Bagan rode a last-minute goal to beat George Telegraph 3-2 in a premier division encounter of the Calcutta Football League here on Saturday. Bagan, which led 2-0 at half-time, played shoddily in the second session allowing George Telegraph to draw level. But Nigerian Peter Odafe struck off a free kick in the dying moments to help it escape with full points. Bagan went into the lead through striker P. Lalawmpuiain the 21st minute. Shylo Malswamtluanga made it 2-0 in the 37th minute. George Telegraph reduced the margin in the 46th minute through Ipekere Freebone. The equaliser came in the 80th minute when Francis found the target. With a draw looking imminent, Odafe struck home a Lalkamal Bhowmik free kick to ensure the win for Bagan. With 13 points from six matches, Bagan joined Mohammedan Sporting on top of the league table. — Principal Correspondent
