OPTCL told to complete projects on time

BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has asked Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) to take expeditious steps for augmentation of the power evacuation system to avoid transmission constraint due to rapid industrialisation in the State.

Reviewing performance of the OPTCL, the commission also advised the corporation complete different projects on time in order to reduce interest burden and creation of fixed assets to enable them to earn depreciation on assets. Nearly 13 projects undertaken by the OPTCL, which were lagging behind from their scheduled date of completion, were completed during the FY 2007-08, the OERC said in a statement.
