Test of talent: Quiz master Giri Balasubramaniam posing a question to students at High-Q organised by Cognizant in Chennai on Saturday. CHENNAI: Who is the Leg Theory Captain – Douglas Jardine. He started the Bodyline series. Name the city of cut stone – Taxila. What list did ancient Greek poet Antipater form? He made a list of the ancient wonders of the world. These were some of questions that city school kids cracked at Cognizant’s High-Q quiz conducted here on Saturday. Quiz master Giri Balasubramaniam had packed some tough questions and made the crowd to pick its brains. “Freedom in Exile” - who am I? — The answer to the ten point question was Dalai Lama. The P.S. Senior Secondary School team comprising Ravi Kiran, Gautham and Mithraa Varun got it right and went on to win the Video iPods, the first prize. Over 1,000 students from 40 city schools took part in the ‘Knowledge initiative’ of Cognizant aimed at students of Classes X, XI and XII. Its aim is to serve as a platform to nurture knowledge and creativity, spread awareness on multiple career options, and groom youngsters into becoming all-rounders. A written preliminary quiz was conducted to choose the final six teams. Cognizant vice-president Mahesh. V gave away prizes to the winners. The team from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, K.K. Nagar — Swaran, P.K. Aditya, Jeoffer — came second. They won 2GB iPod shuffles each besides Cognizant goodies. The team from Chettinad Vidyashram was presented with gift vouchers of Rs.2,000 each. In between the preliminary and final rounds, career consultant Jayaprakash A. Gandhi spoke on higher education options available for students. Earlier, in his inaugural address, Cognizant vice-president N. Veeraraghavan said being a continuous learner and having the right attitude would help students in their career.
