Udupi: President of the State unit of Indian Psychiatric Society K.S. Karanth said on Saturday that awareness was the key to tackle mental problems. He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop for teachers on “Mental problems faced by adolescents and their solutions”, organised by the State unit of Indian Psychiatric Society, Department of Public Instruction, Dr. A.V. Baliga Group of Institutions and Rotary Club, here. Dr. Karanth said that misconceptions came in the way of dealing with mental problems. Either lack of knowledge or possession of too much knowledge caused a hindrance in tackling mental problems, he said. Nagarajmurthy welcomed the gathering. Correspondent of A.V. Baliga Institute of Social Sciences and Rural Management P.V. Bhandary presided over the inaugural programme. Sapna Ganesh proposed a vote of thanks.
