Man charred to death in car

KOCHI: Joejoe, a businessman hailing from Alangad, near Aluva, was charred to death when the car he was driving burst into flames at Edayar near here around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The Binanipuram police, investigating the tragedy, said the car was going towards Panaikulam when the accident occurred.

What triggered the fire in the car was being looked into. The police said that a motorcycle rider who was behind the car as it burst into flames alerted people nearby about the accident. But nobody could approach the car because of the blaze. By the time the fire was doused, the car was near-completely burnt. Two of the doors of the cars reportedly fell off during the blaze.

The body was taken to the Aluva Government Hospital, said the police.
