Coir workers demand free ration
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Coir Workers Union which is led by the CMP and affiliated to the HMS has demanded free ration for coir workers. The president of the organisation, G. Sugunan, said here today that they were eligible for it because of the crisis in the sector and because the rains had increased the unemployment in the area. He held the government responsible for the unemployment in the area.
The issues had since become extremely complex and many workers were in the grip of acute starvation, he added.
