The three-month programme will have 90-minute sessions three times a week NEW DELHI: UEI Global School of Service Management has joined hands with the Campus of Open Learning at Delhi University to start a “Hospitality Persona Lifestyle” programme for its students. The classes began over the weekend under an agreement signed between UEI Global School of Service Management and the Campus of Open Learning earlier this year. The school is a brand held by Berggruen Education Private Limited., which is the educational venture of a private investment company, Berggruen Holdings Inc. The three-month programme to be taught at the Keshavpuram centre of the Campus of Open Learning will have 90-minute sessions three times a week. To ensure maximum one-on-one interaction between the faculty members and students, the batch strength would be restricted to 30 students. Multiple batches will be operated as per the convenience of the students, the Campus of Open Learning and the industry partner. Parallel sub-disciplineAddressing a press conference, Campus of Open Learning director Savita Datta said: “We understand the need for providing world-class education to our students. Our short-term courses have been designed with a focus on the needs of the market. The programme will be conducted with the involvement of faculty from the corporate houses to bring in practical relevance.” “These professional courses will be taken up by the students as a parallel sub-discipline while pursuing their degree level education. The idea is to give them employable graduation,” she informed. UEI Global School has specially designed this programme that aims at developing the communication and analytical skills of the participants. The students in the current batch were selected on the basis of a general aptitude test and an interview. There is a provision for a special fee concession for students from the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. Women students will also be offered a concession in fees. Joint certificateOn successful completion of the programme, the students will be awarded a joint certificate by the Campus of Open Learning and UEI Global School of Service Management. “With the changing corporate environment, this course will help in enhancing the skills of individuals and make them more practical to deal with the outer world,” said the Managing Director of Berggruen Education Private Limited, Praveen Roy. Apart from a course in hospitality, the Campus of Open Learning on Friday also began classes for short-term programmes in Medical Transcription and Retail.
