MICRO-LEVEL MEET: Mayor M. Subramanian (right) and Chennai Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni interact with residents of Virugambakkam at a grievance redress meeting on Saturday. Chennai: Mayor M. Subramanian on Saturday visited the Virugambakkam in Kilpauk zone to interact with the residents as part of the Chennai Corporation’s grievances redress programme. At a ‘makkalai thedi maanagaratchi’ (Corporation goes to the people) meeting, petitions related to property tax assessment, trade licences, water connections, sewage blocks and issue of birth/death certificates were received. According to a Corporation press release, action was taken on 276 of the 465 petitions received on the same day. Trade licences were issued to 68 persons. Sewage blocks in Bharathi Salai and Kambar Salai were cleared. The Mayor said that Rs.15.55 crore had been spent on re-laying roads and pavements have been restored at the cost of Rs. 5.46 crore in Kilpauk zone. Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni urged the people to call 1913 to register complaints related to civic issues and log on to www.chennaicorporation.gov.in for information on services and infrastructure offered by the Corporation.
