KOZHIKODE: Anwar Jahan Zuberi, Vice-Chancellor, Calicut University, will inaugurate a three-day national workshop on the Thenjipalam campus near here from August 5. The workshop, organised by the university’s Department of English, will be on the topic ‘English curriculum: new trends.’ C. Gopinathan Pillai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, will preside over. The usual understanding about English courses at the graduate and post-graduate levels has changed. New writers writing in English have gained importance. The literature of the marginalised has occupied the centre stage in world literature. The literature of other countrifinds a place in the current English curriculum. The workshop will discuss these issues and the changing tastes and priorities of contemporary curriculum. The workshop will accord importance to the needs of post-graduate students. Leading English teachers, educationists and researchers will participate in the workshop, B.Sreedevi, head of the department, said in a release.
