NEW DELHI: A six-member delegation of Prison Ministry India, a non-government organisation working among jail inmates, submitted a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil this past week seeking abolition of capital punishment. Stating that most countries have done away with death penalty, the memorandum sought passing of legislation in this regard.

The delegation was led by Rev. Vincent M. Concessavo, Archbishop of Delhi.

Other members present were Fr. Josekutty Kalayil, national coordinator of PMI, and Fr. Joseph Kavalakkat, Northern regional coordinator.
