CLEARING THE WAY: A recovery vehicle removing the lorry that overturned on GST Road on Saturday.
CHENNAI: Movement of traffic on arterial Grand Southern Trunk Road towards Guindy was affected for nearly five hours on Saturday morning when a cement concrete mixer lorry was involved in an accident at Meenambakkam.
Traffic police said the truck had loaded pre-mixed cement concrete from a factory in Kandigai near Guduvanchery. It was heading towards a construction site in Kodambakkam.
At Meenambakkam, the driver had reportedly lost control of the vehicle and dashed against the median on GST Road and the vehicle overturned . Using recovery vehicles, the traffic police removed the lorry from the spot at 11 a.m, resulting in a massive pile up of vehicles during the intervening period.
None was injured, the police said.
