Mr. Khrushchev and Mr. Mao Tse-tung, the Soviet and Chinese leaders, have been conferring secretly in Peking since last Thursday, it was revealed on August 3. They issued a joint communiqué calling for Summit Talks at once, and demanding the immediate withdrawal of British and American troops from Lebanon and Jordan. It said the right of people to choose their social and political system must be respected. It was Mr. Khrushchev’s first visit to China, at least since coming to power, Tass reported.
