This Day That Age
Pakistan was hopeful that settlement of her dispute with India on distribution of Indus Canal Waters would be reached by the end of this year, highly placed official sources said in Karachi on August 2. The source confirmed that India had sought certain clarifications in the “engineering plan” prepared by Pakistan at the instance of the World Bank and said that Pakistan might take about a month to send these clarifications. The engineering plan dealt with the issue in a broad way and it was subject to modifications after discussions among experts of the World Bank, India and Pakistan. “There is nothing fixed in that plan. Works, link canals and storage facilities, envisaged in the plan might have to be amended, while these works are actually undertaken,” the source said.
