Jaitley: correct the “mistake” in Jammu

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to accept the demands of the people of the Jammu region and “correct its mistake” of cancelling the transfer of land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.

Talking to journalists here on Sunday, BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley said there was anger among the people against the decision to cancel the land transfer order. “Even when the Army is out on the roads, the government is unable to control the situation.”

He appealed to the people to hold peaceful agitation. The government too, should understand that oppression could not end the agitation, he added.

“Atrocities are being perpetrated on the media by blocking the local channels and SMS facilities on mobile phones. Even then protests are going on,” Mr. Jaitley, who visited Jammu on Saturday, said.
