Floodlights to be ready by next month

VISAKHAPATNAM: Floodlights at the ACA-VDCA stadium would be ready by September 15, according to vice-president of ACA P.R. Narayanaswami here on Sunday.

Work on erecting flood lights at a cost of Rs. 6 crores is on while a large score-board and expansion of umpires’ room, all required for a venue to get Test status would be fulfilled at the ACA-VDCA stadium to conduct a Test match, he said.

The following were elected as office-bearers of the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association for a three-year term in the elections held on Sunday: D.V. Subba Rao (president), P.R. Narayanaswami, D.V.S.S. Somayajulu, D.S. Varma, P. Vishnukkumar Raju, D. Prasada Rao, D. Sanjeev and P.V.M.J.M. Varma (vice-presidents); K. Parthasaradhi (secretary); S.S.R.K. Prasad (treasurer), G.J.J. Raju, A.P. Naidu and J.K.M. Raju (joint secretaries), Colts C.C., Gajuwaka Greens, Hindusthan Shipyard R.C., L.G. Polymers, V.P.S.C., Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Vizag Blues (EC members).
