Ex-naval officer and family murdered

Kanpur: A retired naval officer and his family were found murdered at their home in Rajepur village near here. Ex-Naval officer Vipin Katiyar (40), his wife Shashi (35) and their eight-year-old son Rishabh were found strangulated and their heads crushed, police said.

Enraged villagers while protesting the incident, blocked roads in the area.

Kanpur range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Kamal Saxena said that Mr. Katiyar had moved to the village after sustaining some physical disability. He had also opened a shop in the village to augment his family income.

Investigations are on in connection with the case.
