“Government indulging in tall talk and taking up only ‘eyewash’ relief measures ” TIRUPATI: The Chittoor District unit of the CPI-M on Sunday flayed the government for its failure to ensure a sustained supply of rice and red gram through the fair price shops to all the card holders after having launched the scheme amid a lot of fanfare and publicity blitzkrieg. ‘Pada yatra’The government has miserably failed and backtracked on its promise, said K. Kumar Reddy, district secretary of the CPI (M) whose cadres are currently on a ‘pada yatra’ in all the districts of the State to expose the government’s ‘grandiose failure’ on all fronts and mobilise the public against it. Relief measuresHe criticised the government for indulging in tall talk and taking up only ‘eyewash’ relief measures when confronted by public and opposition. He charged that it lacked the capacity and the sincerity to ensure a proper distribution of at least the essential commodities to the public. ‘Casual attitude’Mr. Kumar Reddy said that going by the ‘casual attitude’ of the government towards the burning problem of price rise and distribution of essential commodities through the fair price shops the CPI (M) feared that the govt would manage to put up a ‘show’ to dole out essential commodities at subsidised rates for a couple of months before the elections and later back-out ditching the public.
