BELGAUM: Poor rainfall during current monsoon has adversely affected Kharif sowing in Belgaum district which will further affect output of foodgrains this year. Official sources said here on Sunday that despite revival of monsoon showers during the last two weeks, only 69 per cent of the sowing target could be met. The situation in other districts falling in Belgaum division is not encouraging either due to inadequate rainfall. In Bagalkot district, only 59 per cent of the sowing target has been met. Sowing has been affected the most in Bijapur district as only seven per cent of the target has been met there. Similarly, 56 per cent of sowing target has been met in Dharwad, 33 per cent in Gadag, 75 per cent in Haveri, and 60 per cent of the target met in Uttar Kannada.
