THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Southern Railway recorded loading of approximately 3.2 million tonnes in freight in July this year, 32 per cent higher than in July 2007. Thiruvananthapuram Division registered a 25 per cent increase in freight traffic in petroleum products during this period and Palakkad Railway Division registered the highest ever loading of limestone from Mangalore port, a release said. Chennai Division recorded a 23 per cent rise in the loading of coal from Chennai and Ennore ports and Madurai Division saw 80 per cent rise in incremental loading over last year. The loading performance of Southern Railway from April to July this year was19 per cent more than during the same period last year.
