Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday launched a state-wide medicinal plantation drive here. Mr. Dhumal planted an aloe vera plant at his official residence in the morning to inaugurate “Janjan Sanjeevani Abhiyan-2008”. All the ministers and MLAs planted different varieties of saplings in their areas as part of the campaign, sources said. Free of costThe State’s forest department has given a medicinal plant free of cost to all 12.5 lakh households. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the programme was aimed at making Himachal Pradesh a herbal state. The mega afforestation campaign would increase the green cover areas of Himachal and benefit its people commercially, he said. -- PTI
