BHUBANESWAR: The hospitality industry of the State is gearing up to for the four-day 26th annual conclave of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) commencing in the city on August 7. IATO Orissa chapter chairman J.K.Mohanty told mediapersons that it was a matter of pride for the State to host such a prestigious event of IATO, the largest travel trade body of the nation. “It is the result of years of prolonged efforts to bring this prestigious event to the State,” he added. The event will be a convergence point of tour operators, hoteliers, travel agents, airlines officials, representatives of the hotel and tourism management institutes and companies hosting and designing tourism portals besides tourism departments of different states, the Ministry of Tourism, cruise operators, civil aviation authorities and travel trade writers from India and abroad, Mr.Mohanty elaborated. About 1,200 IATO delegates were scheduled to participate the meet that would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Navin Patnaik. Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and several high officials from the Aviation Ministry would also attend the event, Mr. Mohanty said. A number of colourful cultural programmes showcasing Orissa’s heritage and culture were being staged for the delegates, he said. The mega event would project a positive image for the State and would boost its hospitality industry to a large extent, he hoped.
