What they say
R.Sekar
R. Sekar, Commissioner of Police:
Police have geared up for emergencies. There are 600 kinds of patrol vehicles on the city roads. We have held meetings with resident welfare associations and have had two-three rounds of meetings with companies, video parlour, cyber café and lodge owners. We have sensitised school and college administration to install caller ID systems.
People should be conscious, sensitive to their surroundings and know their neighbours.
Community policing requires that the community know its residents. Our meetings with the resident welfare associations have provided us a lot of information. We can do much better with public support.
There is no need to be apprehensive of police.
We are part of society.
