‘Prakrit throws light on ancient culture’

MOODBIDRI: B. Yashovarma, secretary, S.D.M. Education Trust, Ujire, has said that efforts should be made to preserve and protect the Prakrit scriptures.

Inaugurating a workshop on Prakrit language, organised by Sri Dhavalatraya Trust here on Sunday, Mr. Yashovarma said that people should be encouraged to take up research on the language and unravel its mystery.

The Prakrit language was in vogue among Jain seers in the past. Restoration of scriptures in Prakrit would help younger generation in studying the language.

Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Panditacharyavarya swamiji, delivering the benedictions, lauded the resolve of the delegates in studying Prakrit.
