‘Railways neglected safety’

People for India, a voluntary organisation, has demanded resignation of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for “gross indifference and inefficiency” of the Railways in the Gautami Express tragedy. His not finding time to visit the site of accident was “unfortunate”. In a statement on Monday, Forum Chairman and former member of South Eastern Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee K.V.Ramana said it was clear from the reports in the media that the safety arrangements were not in place to meet such emergencies.
