Thiruvananthapuram: The city police will step up surveillance of foreign nationals residing in the capital, V. Sureshkumar, Circle Inspector, Medical College, told a meeting of the Maithri Suraksha community policing programme here on Sunday. Participants in the meeting said the nexus between a section of local people and the large number of foreign nationals residing in rented houses in the Medical College area was posing a nuisance for the residents. The police officials promised steps to enforce the submission of C forms and other details of foreign nationals by the landlords. The meeting called for measures to install traffic signal lights in the area earmarked for widening the road at Ulloor junction. Representatives of residents’ associations called upon the police for action against unauthorised parking at Pongumood, Murinjapalam, LIC junction and Plamood. They demanded eviction of hawkers. Maithri Suraksha convener Thekkumoodu Sumesh presided over the meeting. K.S. Prakash, Principal Sub-Inspector, participated.
