Raghuveera asks officials not to give room for complaints IAS officers appointed to supervise fertilizer distribution HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy has asked officials not to give room for complaints about the shortage of fertilizers since this was an election year. At a video-conference on Sunday with district officials to discuss measures to strengthen the distribution network of fertilizers, Mr. Reddy reminded them that the opposition parties were keen to gain political mileage during the year by focussing on the agricultural crisis. The initial failure of monsoon indeed brought them cheer. In fact, parties also offered prayers seeking the dry spell to continue, he said. He said there was no shortage of fertilizers as made out by the Opposition. He did not receive a single complaint from farmers about shortage. The Opposition tried to cash in on the supply chain from northern States losing link due to rail traffic coming to a halt after the Gautami Express went up in flames. About 90 rakes were held up on the route following the incident. Mr. Reddy also said the State would receive di-ammonium phosphate and complex urea in excess of its requirement in August. The consignments would be moved to the State by 300 rakes during the month. He announced appointment of 13 senior IAS officers for as many districts to supervise distribution of fertilizers. Rajeswar Tiwari (Kurnool), Jayesh Ranjan (Kadapa), R. Subrahmaniam (East Godavari), T. Radha (West Godavari), Chitra Subrahmaniam (Krishna), Heeralal Samariya (Guntur), A.R. Sukumar (Adilabad), B.R. Meena (Karimnagar), A. Giridhar (Khammam), B.P. Acharya (Warangal), Vidyasagar (Nalgonda), Y. Madhusudhan Rao (Mahbubnagar) and L. Premchandra Reddy (Medak).
