Miscreants vandalise police picket

NEW DELHI: Some miscreants vandalised a police picket at Swaroop Nagar here on Sunday. The unidentified men entered a vacant police picket in the evening and vandalised it. They took out some furniture lying in the picket and set it on fire. The attack was apparently prompted by alleged inaction of the police in a two-week old case in which Umesh (22) died after allegedly being beaten up by a constable. A departmental inquiry has already been ordered in the matter. “Some people have been detained in this connection and the matter is being investigated,” said a senior police officer.
