Sir, — There are no post offices/post boxes in M.R. Garden, Vishwanatha Naganahalli and Hebbal, Ward No 96. Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, who has been elected from the Hebbal constituency, had instructed the officials to ensure that the people’s needs are fulfilled. Despite several letters to the Post Master General seeking establishment of a post office in the area, no action has been taken. The residents of the area are forced to depend on the R.T. Nagar post office for their needs. K. Valmiki, Bangalore Parking at airportSir, — I request the management of Bengaluru International Airport and the Government that a 24-hour parking facility be provided at the airport. This would help people who visit nearby places such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Cochin, Mumbai and Pune and return the same day. M. Ramanjulu, Bangalore Widening of roadSir, — The proposal to widen Avenue Road by more than 10 metres, stated to have been approved by the Chief Minister, is not proper. After demolishing hundreds of shops, the widening will become redundant as nothing will be left except the widened road. Besides, it will affect the livelihood of many traders, shop assistants and workers. What is important in the commercial hub of the city is not to sanction any more buildings in Gandhinagar, Kempe Gowda Road, SKR Market, Cottonpet and in their vicinity. These are the areas where activities need to be reduced. Business should be diverted to other parts of the city. S. Kuppuswamy, Bangalore Pits on roadsSir, — Of late, it has been a common practice to dig pits on the edge of footpaths and about 1.5 feet into the roads for laying fibre optic cables. These pits are not filled up after laying the lines. Whenever it rains, these pits get filled up with water and cause hardship to vehicle users. Sometimes, the vehicles get stuck in these pits because of the slush created by rain and loose soil used for filling them. I request the authorities to direct those involved in laying the cables to fill up the pits properly. M.S. Baig, Bangalore Readers can email letters to: letters.bangalore @thehindu.co.in
