Seven killed, five injured as MUV collides with bus

BANGALORE: Seven persons were killed and five were seriously injured when a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) by which they were travelling collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus in Manki police station limits in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Sunday, according to the police.

The police said that the vehicle was carrying pilgrims from Illkal in Bagalkot district to Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district.

At about 7.30 p.m., the bus, which was bound for Karwar from Dharmasthala, collided with the MUV near Manki, killing four persons on the spot, according to the police.

While two persons died on the way to a hospital at Murdeshwar, another died in the hospital.

The injured were being shifted to KMC Hospital, Manipal, the police said and added that the identity of the dead and the injured was yet to be ascertained.
