NEW DELHI: Feeling used and discarded by the political parties in their time of need, the traders of Delhi have now declared that they would vote for the political party that would stand up for their rights and would speak up for them. Slogan coinedComing under the banner of Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT), these traders have even coined a slogan: “Jo Vyapari Hit Ki Baat Karega - Wahi Vyaparion ke Vote Par Raj Karega” (Whoever would talk of the interests of traders, would rule on their votes). Terming sealing as a major issue close to the heart of the traders, CAIT secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said that a comprehensive traders’ charter will be released by CAIT national executive president B.C. Bhartia at a rally to be held in the Capital on August 9, . The charter raises the issue of regularisation of all business establishments that existed as on December 31, 2007, and formation of a panel for speedy regularisation of unauthorised colonies in which lakhs of traders are carrying their business activities. The declaration of special area under Master Plan 2021 as fully commercial area and de-sealing of shops also figure in it. Demand for pensionThrough the charter, the demand for pension for traders, who have reached the age of 60, would also be raised. Further, CAIT would be seeking formation of a trade commission on the pattern of Planning Commission.
