This Day That Age
The President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, on August 4 called upon the judges, members of the bar, legislators and members of the public “to reconstruct our laws and legal procedures, which are based largely on the British model to suit our conditions and traditions, and also make them simple and intelligible to the common man.” The President was declaring open the new buildings of the Supreme Court of India. Dr. Rajendra Prasad also stressed the immediate need for evolving ways and means of avoiding delay in dispensing justice and also make legal procedures less expensive. He congratulated the judiciary in the country, especially the judges of the Supreme Court and other High Courts for making it one of the stable elements in the life of the country.
