RDO takes charge as APC of SSA
Staff Reporter
Kakinada: Kakinada RDO G.C Kishore Kumar took charge as the in-charge additional project coordinator (APC) of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) after the suspension of D.N Murthy on charge of corruption. On the occasion, Mr. Kumar said he would extend full cooperation to special deputy collector V. Ramakrishna, who was appointed the inquiry officer, to probe irregularities in the implementation of SSA. The new APC was mandated to look into the deviations that led to large-scale misappropriation of funds, fix responsibility and report the same to SSA chairman and collector. His primary duty was to ensure smooth implementation of the scheme that was affected to some extent by misconduct of those involved in the scandal.
It may be recalled that Mr. Murthy was suspended as per the recommendation of the Assembly Committee on SSA, which virtually grilled him during their recent inspection. The loss to exchequer on account of the misconduct of Mr. Murthy and others who colluded with him, stood at Rs 27 lakh as per official records.
