Very rightly, the 15th SAARC Summit has focussed on the imperative need for active and closer cooperation among the member nations to combat global extremism. The need of the hour is an appropriate mechanism with stringent measures to combat the menace in the true spirit of mutual trust, cooperation and understanding among the member nations. Saratchandran Menon, Palakkad The summit, with its unanimous acknowledgement that terrorism poses a serious threat to peace and stability of the region, has indeed raised some hope that there will be greater cooperation among the SAARC countries. But follow-up action has to be initiated immediately without waiting for time-consuming definitions of what constitutes terrorism. P. U. Krishnan, Udhagamandalam
