THANJAVUR: Union Minister of State for Finance S. S. Palani Manickam on Monday declared open the new office building of the Thirukattupalli town panchayat and a new slaughter house there. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that he would take steps to release Rs. 5 lakh from the MP’s local area development fund to renovate the old building of the panchayat primary school. He also said that Thiruvaiyaru MLA Durai Chandrasekaran will take up the repair of 25 houses in Kamarajar Colony. Bus stand
With regard to a demand made at the meeting to construct a bus stand at Thirukattupalli, the minister said that if land was available, the Government would purchase it and construct the bus stand. Later, the Minister declared open an additional school building constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.30 lakh at Adi Dravidar Middle school at Kandiyur near Thiruvaiyaru. TVs distributedHe also distributed free television sets to 460 persons at Thiruvalampozhil panchayat and to 482 persons at Ammaiaharam panchayat. T.Mahesh Krishnaswamy, Thiruvonam MLA, and Selvi Sivagnanam, Chairperson, Thanjavur district panchayat council, participated in the function.
