Grievance redressal panel for cooperative societies formed
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A Public Grievance Commission for Cooperative Group Housing Societies constituted by the Delhi government became functional on Monday. It would work from the Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies on Parliament Street.
The Commission has been constituted at the initiative of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who was approached by many group housing societies for redressing their grievances. Ms. Dikshit expressed confidence that the new Commission would provide relief to those who had been facing hardship due to certain procedural wrangles.
Two members of the Commission, S.P. Marwah and I.A. Siddiqui, joined it on Monday.
Mr. Marwah is a retired IAS officer who has served in senior positions in the Delhi government. He was Director of the Cooperative Group Housing Societies at the time of allotment of land to about 400 group housing societies in Rohini, Mayur Vihar, Patparganj, Geeta Colony, CBD Shahdara, Rohtak Road and Pitampura.
Mr. Siddiqui is a former member of the Public Grievance Commission of the Delhi government.
